The Brainerd Youth Athletic Association offers basketball to all 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls who are in the Brainerd school district. This is an opportunity for children to begin to experience a more competitive basketball game experience, and work on the skills needed to make them better players.
Teams are formed typically of children from the same elementary schools, with volunteer parent coaches.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 2020 season will have some changes, and all games and practices will be held at Forestview Middle School.
Practices this season will begin the week of November 2nd, with games being held on November 7, 14, 21, December 5, 12 and 19. There will be NO games held on Thanksgiving weekend.
Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, between the hours of 6 and 9 pm. All games will be held on Saturday, beginning at 9 am. A full schedule will be finalized after registration.
No parents or other children will be allowed to attend practices, due to facility occupancy limits, and there will be limits on attendance for the games (final numbers are still pending). All players will need to have a health screening prior to attending practice of games, and not allowed to participate if they are feeling sick, have a temperature or are otherwise experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Teams will also have a specific adult responsible for monitoring the requirements, and all coaches and non-participating players will be required to wear a face covering.
Unfortunately, there will NOT be a basketball clinic for the kids this year, due to occupancy limits for the building.
