Player Tryouts and Selection

Grades 5-8 Tryouts

Grades 5-8 tryouts are held in November. The varsity staff of the boys and girls high school basketball programs conduct the tryouts. They typically run for two - three sessions. Players are assigned to a team based on the skill level determined by the staff. All decisions by the staff are final. Parents will not be allowed to observe tryouts.

Participation in all tryouts is mandatory. Click here for a registration form. We may need to get player numbers to obtain the proper roster size. Each team will play approximately 6 - 8 tournaments. We offer equal opportunity but not equal playing time. There will be up to three teams of 8-10 players per team, a Blue, Silver and White team for boys and girls at each grade level. Players are first selected for the "Blue" team, then the "Silver' team, then the "White' team.

Blue Team
The team shall be made up of the top 8 -10 players. Players shall be determined by a number of factors including try-out results, skill and ability, playing experience, past years performance, needs at skill positions, and the determination commitment and desire to improve by the player. This team will compete at the top “A” level available.

Silver and White Teams
Players shall be determined by the same factors as the Blue team. These teams will compete at the level most appropriate to match the skill level of each team. The selected teams will be playing at various competitive levels. Participation numbers will determine the number of teams each season. Players are continually evaluated during the season and may be moved between teams with the coach’s and boards approval.
